The 2023 Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show is set to commemorate the milestone of "50 Years of Women in Naval Aviation," as announced by Naval Air Station Pensacola. This airshow is specially designed to pay tribute to and acknowledge the significant contributions made by women to naval aviation since the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act was enacted. This landmark act eliminated prior restrictions preventing women from engaging in combat-related roles and paved the way for women to pursue careers as naval aviators.
Scheduled over two days, on November 3 and November 4, the airshow is one of Pensacola's premier events, drawing in a crowd of over 220,000 spectators. Although the Navy has witnessed hundreds of women who have served with the Blue Angels over the years, the 2023 season marked a historic moment with the inclusion of a female pilot, Lt. Amanda Lee. Among the female performers at the event, Air Force Capt. Aimee Fiedler, leader of the eight-member F-16 Viper Demonstration Team, and Melissa Burns, a professional aerobatic pilot and display skydiver, will also be showcased.
