Bombardier Unveils Advanced Avionics Upgrade for Vision-Equipped Aircraft

Bombardier has introduced an advanced avionics upgrade (AAU) tailored for aircraft equipped with its Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion-based Vision flight deck. The AAU software update enables the integration of Bombardier's combined vision system (CVS), seamlessly merging elements from the company's synthetic vision system (SVS) and enhanced vision system (EVS) into a unified view. This upgrade is now available for in-service Vision-equipped business jets, including the Global 5000, 6000, 5500, and 6500 models.

Paul Sislian, Bombardier's Executive Vice President for Aftermarket Services and Strategy, emphasized the significance of this software upgrade, stating, "The new software upgrade for the Bombardier Vision flight deck is a gamechanger, and we are delighted, along with Collins Aerospace, to bring our operators' aircraft to new levels of operational excellence." He further emphasized the Vision flight deck's longstanding role in Bombardier Global aircraft, enhancing their reputation for safety, reliability, and performance.

In addition to the CVS integration, the AAU offers an array of features, including an enhanced engine indicating and crew alerting system (EICAS) with improved message logic, an integrated flight information system (IFIS), updated weather enhancements with XM/SXM graphical weather/DataLink graphical weather, and enhancements to the electronic flight instrument system (EFIS). The update also includes options like ADS-B in, cockpit display of traffic information (CDTI), airport moving maps, and SVS taxi mode. The inaugural AAU upgrade is currently being installed on a Global 6000 aircraft at Bombardier's Wichita Service Center.
