Dassault's Falcon 6X Takes Flight for Inaugural Owner after Receiving FAA and EASA Certification

Dassault, the renowned French aircraft manufacturer, announced on November 30 that its inaugural Falcon 6X has commenced operations under its new owner. This milestone comes after the 6X, the largest jet in the Falcon series until the 10X enters service in 2025, received simultaneous FAA and EASA type certification on August 22. The launch customer's identity and location have not been disclosed by Dassault.

Post-certification, Dassault undertook upgrades that necessitated EASA approval. Three flight-test aircraft accumulated over 1,500 flight hours during a comprehensive two-year testing campaign, with the first flight taking place on March 10, 2021.

Introduced in February 2018, the Falcon 6X, boasting a maximum range of 5,500 nm, emerged as the successor to the 5X program, which faced challenges related to the in-development Safran Silvercrest engine, leading to its cancellation. The 6X, 20 inches longer than its predecessor, accommodates the more robust Pratt & Whitney PW812D engines.
