Embraer, a prominent aircraft manufacturer, has achieved a significant milestone as its E195-E2 single-aisle passenger jet has been granted the type certificate by China's Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC). This certification marks another step forward for the E195-E2, which had previously received type certificates from the FAA, EASA, and Brazil's ANAC in April 2019. The model officially entered service with Brazil's Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras later that same year. The first member of Embraer's E2 family, the E190-E2, had already secured its CAAC certification in November of the previous year.
Arjan Meijer, President, and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, expressed enthusiasm about the achievement, stating, "We’re excited to now have both the E190-E2 and E195-E2 certified by CAAC, paving the way for sales in the Chinese market." Meijer also highlighted the strategic value of the E2 models for Chinese airlines, noting their compatibility with China's indigenous aircraft offerings like the ARJ21 and C919. These collective options provide a versatile, efficient, and environmentally friendly selection to cater to the fast-growing global air transportation market.
The E195-E2, an enhanced iteration of Embraer's E195, offers flexible seating configurations, accommodating up to 120 seats in two classes or as many as 146 seats in a single class. Notably, the aircraft boasts a remarkable 25 percent improvement in fuel efficiency per seat compared to previous-generation E-Jets. As the largest member of Embraer's E-Jet family, the E195-E2 features an impressive range of 2,600 nautical miles, a top cruise speed of Mach 0.82, and a maximum payload capacity of 35,604 pounds. With this recent certification, the E195-E2 is now poised to make a significant impact in the Chinese aviation market.
