The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched two grant programs aimed at cultivating interest and equipping students for rewarding careers in aviation. The Aircraft Pilots Workforce Development Grants and Aviation Maintenance Technical Workers Workforce Development Grants provide funding for educational initiatives targeting pilots, aerospace engineers, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS/drone) operators, and aviation maintenance technicians. Grants ranging from $25,000 to $500,000 per fiscal year are available to eligible applicants.
Recognizing the importance of investing in the future aviation workforce, the FAA stated, "We are committed to supporting academia and the aviation community in creating a diverse talent pool of skilled pilots and aviation maintenance technicians, inspiring and recruiting the next generation of aviation professionals."
Last year, the FAA allocated over $10 million in aviation workforce development grants to more than 20 schools and organizations. The grant programs are currently authorized until the end of fiscal year 2023. Eligible organizations can submit grant applications through www.grants.gov until August 16, 2023. These initiatives aim to empower students and promote the growth of a vibrant and inclusive aviation industry.
