Saab and Embraer have inaugurated a Gripen E fighter jet production line at Embraer’s plant in Brazil. The plant is currently the only final assembly line for Saab Gripen E single-engine fighters outside of Sweden. The two companies have been collaborating on the project since 2014, following a contract to supply 36 Gripens to the Brazilian air force. The new production line will produce 15 of the contracted aircraft, with the aim of producing future Gripen orders from Brazil and other countries. The first Brazilian-assembled Gripen E is expected to be delivered in 2025.
