Gulfstream G550 Business Jet Fleet Reaches Remarkable One-Millionth Landing Milestone

Gulfstream Aerospace made a significant announcement on Wednesday, revealing that the G550 business jet fleet has successfully achieved its one-millionth landing milestone. Since its debut in 2003, this remarkable model has amassed over 2.6 million flight hours, and currently, more than 600 aircraft are actively serving in the skies. Recognized with the prestigious 2003 Robert J. Collier Trophy, the G550 played a pivotal role as the launch platform for Gulfstream's revolutionary Honeywell Primus Epic-based Gulfstream PlaneView flight deck, as well as the Enhanced Vision System, now known as the Enhanced Flight Vision System (EFVS).

Mark Burns, President of Gulfstream, expressed his enthusiasm for this momentous occasion, stating, "Two decades after the aircraft entered service, the G550 continues to achieve in-service milestones and add to its impressive list of accolades as evidenced by this 1 millionth landing. This is a testament to the quality of the G550 and the technology that Gulfstream introduced on this aircraft, which paved the way for our next-generation fleet."

Fueled by Rolls-Royce BR710 engines, the Gulfstream G550 boasts a remarkable top speed of Mach 0.885 and a substantial range of 6,750 nautical miles, while comfortably accommodating up to 19 passengers. Beyond its role as a luxurious business jet, the G550 finds diverse applications as a special missions platform, playing key roles in aeromedical evacuation, airborne early warning, atmospheric research, and maritime patrol. Notably, as previously reported by AVweb, the last commercial G550 was delivered in 2021, marking the continued legacy of this exceptional aircraft.
