Gulfstream Aerospace has unveiled remarkable enhancements in the capabilities of its upcoming G700 business jet. The aircraft will now offer an impressive range of 7,750 nautical miles, surpassing the initial estimate by 250 nautical miles. Furthermore, its maximum operating speed has been elevated to Mach 0.935, up from Mach 0.925. The cabin altitude has been notably reduced to 2,840 feet when cruising at 41,000 feet. This speed enhancement positions the G700 as the fastest aircraft in Gulfstream's extensive fleet.
Mark Burns, President of Gulfstream, emphasized, "We are undertaking one of the most extensive flight test programs as the G700 is the first business aircraft to undergo Federal Aviation Administration certification following the passage of the 2020 Aircraft Certification, Safety, and Accountability Act." He added, "As a result, we will be delivering an extremely mature, rigorously tested aircraft that will outperform expectations in speed, range, and cabin comfort."
The G700 was initially introduced by Gulfstream at the 2019 National Business Aviation Association Convention & Exhibition. To date, the flight test aircraft have accumulated over 4,100 test hours, with two fully equipped production-test aircraft setting more than 45 city-pair speed records and covering approximately 246,000 nautical miles. As the G700's flight test program approaches completion, certification efforts are making substantial progress.
