Investigation Underway for Hard Landing of Flexjet's Embraer Praetor 500 in Georgia

Authorities are conducting a comprehensive investigation into a recent "hard landing" incident that potentially resulted in significant damage to a Flexjet Embraer Praetor 500 aircraft in Georgia. The business jet was transporting six passengers from Westchester County Airport in New York when it seemingly made a forceful impact with Runway 04 at McKinnon St. Simons Island Airport, eventually coming to rest on its wings on the grass. Fortunately, neither the passengers nor the two crew members on board sustained any injuries.

Preliminary examination of the scene suggests that the right landing gear may have collapsed during the landing, while the left gear appeared to have penetrated the top of the wing. Weather conditions at the time, as reported by Weather Underground, indicated winds from the northeast at 17 knots, gusting to 25 knots, at the time of the incident, which occurred at 2:36 p.m. The aircraft is registered to Flexjet, a prominent aviation services provider.
